During a recent Washington Post interview, former Governor Tom Vilsack made a couple of interesting statements.
First, he may have finally answered the question about how in the world Barack Obama came to pick Vilsack for Secretary of Agriculture, when he talked about being introduced to Obama through David Axlerod.
Then, in a question that reveals both journalistic bias and constitutional ignorance, Lois Romano asked, "Iowa is now the third state to "legalize" gay "marriage," what's your reaction to that?" (Remeber - COURTS DO NOT MAKE LAW.)
During his answer to that question, Vilsack went on to gloat about his role in subverting the Iowa Constitution by appointing a majority of the Iowa Supreme Court.
Notice, when asked about the Supreme Court forcing homosexual marriage on Iowa, the US Secretary of Agriculture and former Iowa Governor said, "I'm very proud of the Iowa Supreme Court. I should have to say that because, I had a direct hand in appointing four of the seven Justices of the Supreme Court, and the fifth Justice I appointed to the court, to the trial court, to the Appellate Court. So, in a sense it's kind of my court."
Elections have consequences.
Just for the record - According to the Iowa Constitution: COURTS DO NOT MAKE LAW.

Words Mean Things
The terms like “hate” and “tolerance” have been so radically redefined in recent years that to point out truly hateful speech and actions, or to highlight genuinely intolerant behavior, leads to charges of “hate speech” and “bigoted intolerance.” What once was considered barbaric behavior is now “constitutionally” protected, while comparatively minor measures are now called “torture.”
Words mean things, and this calculated redefinition of terms must not go unchecked.
Over the weekend, Wanda Sykes delivered a speech at the annual Whitehouse Correspondents’ Dinner that was billed as a comedy routine. In keeping with tradition, Ms. Sykes poked fun at a variety of public figures, including Barack Obama. Her comments turned from edgy to ugly though, when she shifted her attention to radio personality, Rush Limbaugh.
According to eyewitness accounts, Sykes was upset that Limbaugh would dare hope that Obama’s socialist agenda might fail. During her comments, she said, "Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails, so you're saying, 'I hope America fails', you're, like, 'I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq'. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason.”
"He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight."
She then concluded: "Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs."

The President immediately stood to his feet and demanded that Ms. Sykes apologize to Mr. Limbaugh and the world for her hateful remarks. – Actually, he thought the comments wishing death on one of his political adversaries were hilarious.
It’s hard not to notice the striking difference between the reaction to those comments, and the reaction that anyone receives if they dare point out that homosexuality often leads to premature death. While one is making a joke about hoping for someone’s premature death, the other is warning about a self-destructive practice that often contributes to premature death. Society laughs at the first, and cries “hate speech” over the second.
The lesson is that it’s ok to publicly wish death upon someone who disagrees with a socialist political agenda, but it’s hateful to point out the danger inherent in the behavior of another. One recent example is the reaction to the op-ed that ran in the Des Moines register by Karl and Judy Schowengerdt, and the YouTube video that accompanied it.
The Register article received over 500 comments, and the YouTube video, which was viewed over 9,000 times, has received dozens of comments as well. In most cases, those comments accused those who were telling the truth of pedaling “hatred” and “bigoted intolerance.” In several cases, radical homosexuals said that it was “criminal hate speech” to point out that homosexuality can increase the odds someone might contract AIDS, or that homosexuality can contribute to a premature death.
No, it’s ok to wish for the death of those who would stand in the way of The One, but it is hateful to care enough to warn others about the dangers associated with their destructive behaviors. It’s interesting to note, that Sykes, who most certainly opposes the “torture” of terrorists, thought so little of Limbaugh that she wanted him to be waterboarded. That comment points out another glaring inversion of logic on the left.
They, as a group, will spend every ounce of political capitol they have to promote and protect access to an abortion, but think its torture to lock a terrorist in a box with a harmless bug.

· Reaching onto the womb and dismembering a helpless baby – constitutionally protected.
· Locking a terrorist in a box with a caterpillar – torture.
For many American patriots and people of faith, watching the wholesale redefinition of simple terms like “hate,” “tolerance,” and “torture” is an agonizing process in and of itself. As long as there remains a freedom to speak in this country, many Americans will refuse to be silent concerning such blatantly obvious misrepresentations of reality.
